This has long since been a hot topic within the search fraternity, however I noticed today what seemed to be a new ad format for the comparison ads. These aren’t anything new, certainly they have varied in terms of position and in terms of both context and labelling quite significantly over the last couple of years.
This one however seems to be particularly comparison in terms of context with the following evident:
- Reference to comparison ads very obvious
- Call to action referencing particular reference in terms of consumer intent (ie may be searching by apr, purchase rate etc
- The ability to choose via the drop down box
There has been variations before, so may this be indicative of a more aggressive stance from Google towards the aggregators and comparison search engines?
