A tragic loss to the industry – RIP Jaamit

News has broken that Jaamit Durrani, one of the rising stars of the UK SEO scene died last night. News is still scarce as to what has actually happened but I can’t put into words how sad it is to hear of his loss – someone who I met at a number of events and one of the nicest people I had the fortune to meet.

Theres no doubting the effect that Jaamit had on the industry particularly here in the UK and here are a couple of peoples thoughts since hearing the news:

Gutted… absolutely gutted… he was the first SEO outside of the company where I work that I had the pleasure of meeting, and on greeting me said “feels like we’ve been mates for years” after months of tweeting at each other… I felt exactly the same…

Devastated – as everyone is saying, much love to those closest to him

wow. Just wow. I cannot believe such a nice guy has passed away.

I’ve had the pleasure of meeting him twice this year and Jaamit was always a pleasure to speak to. Genuinely nice, very humble and always welcoming.

I’m shocked more than anything; my thoughts go out to his friends & family.

My thoughts are with his family, one of the brightest minds in our industry that I had the honour of meeting and chatting with. RIP Jaamit.

I am shocked. Jaamit was great and far too young to die.

So please – can anyone enlighten us as to what happened to such a young guy?

Not sure yet , seem to be conflicting stories as to what happened.

Will let you know if I hear anything in the meantime

If anyone ever doubts that the search marketing community is a family, they don’t understand the bond we share. I just learned a few minutes ago, and already I’m welling up with tears.

Further news appears to be coming out tonight regarding what happened to Jaamit

An area for tributes has been setup on THe Argus website following Jaamits death at Tottenham Court Tube Station, and unfortunately it appears the story regarding the tube train appears to be true.

My thoughts are with Jaamits family (and extended SEO family) at this very sad time.

Absolutely unbelievable. Jaamit was always such a pleasure to talk to, and I remember hiw quickly he rose in the industry from worth, to fresh egg and then to omd.

Truly inspiring and a great guy to boot. Will be sadly missed.
