10 UK Search Marketing people you should be following 2010

by Peter Young on January 4, 2010 · 11 comments

About this time last year, I did a post on 10 search marketing people you should be following on Twitter, which was very well received. Twitter is now a year older – and significantly more popular – and I thought it would be an interesting post to revisit that initial post and include people I have got to know and respect during the course of 2009. I will also be doing an World one of this – something I meant to do last time but for some reason never got round to.

The meaning of follow - personified on Twitter

This year I have tried not to go for the quite as obvious choices who often dominate these types of lists but instead focus on people who I have learnt from during the course of the year, or debated with during the past year

Joanna Butler
Company: Latitude Group
WHO?: SEO & online marketing consultant currently based in London, UK
WHY: Joanna has had an awesome 2009, including a number of well received speaking sessions including A4U in London.

Richard Baxter

Sarah Goodwin
Company: Bloom Media
WHO?: Digital Marketing Manager at Bloom Media and recent addition to SEO Chicks

Malcolm Coles

Wow Pete, I’m very flattered. Thank you for the include and kind words – didnt realised you read the drivel I come out with, let alone paid attention to it! ;)

Def agree with the others, all top people and very interesting (didn’t know about Ben who I have dutifully followed)

Some great people on this list Peter, I am fortunate enough to chat to at least three of them on a regular basis. One of them is also terrible at Wii tennis lol

Great list. Definitely agree with Jaamit’s inclusion, although he’s no longer at Fresh Egg I think.

Thanks John

Jaamit is not only very good at what he does, but a really nice bloke as well.

At the time of writing Jaamit was at Fresh Egg – however as you says he has now moved onto OMD I seem to remember

I am a tad late on the uptake here, but this really is a super list to see. These are seo people I rate right up there with the likes of Matt Cutts among others. Nice list and very useful to have some background info as an overview to know what these people have accomplished.
